 04.09.2014 - Seoul Semiconductor Launches Smart Lighting Acrich2 - SMJQ-132XFNSA LED Module
Seoul Semiconductor releases a new Acrich LED Module featuring Acrich3 technology that is compatible with smart lighting controls. The 30W Module has efficiencies of up to 100 lumens per watt.

Seoul Semiconductor (http://www.seoulsemicon.com) a global leader in LED technology announced the release of a new LED Module with Acrich 3 technology on August 27, 2014. The new LED Module is comprised of an LED module with Acrich MJT 5050 series LED, Acrich3 IC technology, and an innovative heat sink and secondary optics. The Acrich Module does not require a complex AC/DC converter and can be operated directly from the AC mains which simplify designs, reduce component count and improves on the reliability of the luminaire. This new 30W Acrich Module delivers a typical luminous flux of 3000 lumens at 120VAC operation at 5000K corresponding to a typical efficiency of 100 lumens per watt. When operated in a power compensation mode the Acrich3 technology can adapt to variations in the line-voltage as great as 20% and still deliver power-level regulation within 5% to ensure uniformity of the light output.

Furthermore, the new Acrich3 solution enables smart lighting control systems the Acrich3 technology can interface through a wide variety of wireless networks such as IEEE 802.15.4, WiFi, and Bluetooth to control dimming, and further optimize on energy savings.

Seoul Semiconductor Executive Vice President of lighting sales division, Jay Kim has stated that, The payback period for streetlights can be significantly reduced with this new Acrich light Module. By eliminating AC/DC converters in streetlights, maintenance costs can be lowered and reliability can be improved without compromising on price, quality and energy savings to dramatically improve the lighting experience for customers. This new Acrich technology has been optimized for street and area lighting applications that require high light output, reliability, and high cost performance.

Seoul Semiconductor extends its leadership in the Mid-Power LED family with the introduction of Acrich MJT 2525 series with industry leading lumen density in a small footprint.

The Acrich MJT 2525 series features Seoul Semiconductor's proprietary high voltage architecture "Acrich MJT- Multi-Junction chip Technology" in a mid-power package enabling simpler, smaller, cheaper and more efficient driver topologies.

Seoul Semiconductor (http://www.seoulsemicon.com) a global leader in LED technology on March 24th has announced the release of a new generation of LEDs, Acrich MJT 2525 series, with industry leading performance and lumen density in the mid-power class. The new mid-power product family of the 2525 series offers a compact symmetrical package with dimensions of 2.5mm x 2.5mm and wide beam angles making these LEDs ideal for applications that require uniform illumination. At the heart of this new package is the state-of-the-art chip technology from Seoul Semiconductor and also optimized light extraction from the package resulting in high luminous efficacies.

The Acrich MJT 2525 series is a compact high voltage mid-power package with a typical forward voltage of 22V. At 3000 Kelvin (K) and a CRI of 80 it achieves a brightness of 95 lumens (lm) and an efficacy of 105 lumens per watt (lm/W) at an operating current of 40 milliamps (mA) at 25C. With a lumen density of 15lm/mm2 this midpower package is best in class and has a lumen density five times that of any other midpower package making it ideal for space constrained lighting applications. The wide viewing angle on these LEDs also helps implement the omni-directionality in replacement lamp designs.

The high voltage Acrich MJT 2525 series incorporates the Acrich- Multi-junction Technology with multiple junctions on a single monolithic chip eliminating the usage of multiple wire bonds between several die's to the high voltage architecture. This construction vastly improves the reliability of the LED package since it reduces the potential number of failure modes associated with wire bonds within the LED package. This high voltage architecture also enables the use of simpler, more cost-efficient drivers, compared to conventional LEDs. The improved efficiency of the driver electronics also results in less heat generated and fewer electronic components used in the driver design allowing more space for thermal management within the luminare.

Seoul Semiconductor Executive Vice President of Lighting sales division, Jay Kim has stated that, "The new 2525 Series has unparalleled lumen density in the mid-power class of LEDs not only reducing the total system costs for designers but also enabling new possibilities in lighting design. The efficacy enhancements in the new Z5M1 series not only ensure a reduction in luminaire development costs incurred by our customers, but also enable the best possible color over angle homogeneity with the new phosphor coating technology.
The new Z5M1 series from Seoul Semiconductor has been optimized to deliver maximum efficacy and luminous flux with an industry standard 3535 surface mount package. The new Z5M1 combines high light output, reliability, and color uniformity to deliver up to 132 lumens per watt at 350mA, (85C junction temperature, 80 CRI minimum) in warm white (3000K). In cool white (6000K), the Z5M1 delivers up to 150 lumens per watt at 350mA (85C junction temperature, 70 CRI minimum). The Z5M1 series is available in the full Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) range of 2600K - 7000K and two CRI options to provide lamp and luminaire manufacturers with maximum flexibility.
The advancements made in chip architecture and phosphor technology are the key ingredients to the performance enhancement of the new Z5M1 series. The improved efficacy helps lighting manufacturers use fewer LEDs in their system designs which translate to lower system costs. The Z5M1 can be operated from 150mA to 1.5A making them suitable for a wide range of general illumination applications from street and area lighting to replacement lamps to high output flashlights.  11.09.2013 - Seoul Semiconductor Announces Acrich2 Modules Now Reach 140 Lumens/Watt
AC-Driven Acrich2 LED modules reach 140lm/W the equivalent luminance efficiency of DC LEDs.

Seoul Semiconductor (http://www.seoulsemicon.com), a global LED manufacturer, has announced that Acrich2 LED modules powered by AC are now achieving luminous efficacies of 140lm/W, nearly a 20% upgrade from previous versions. The technology has been incorporated into lighting fixtures already being sold in major North American lighting retailers and has become the worlds best luminance efficacy AC LED module in the global solid state lighting market.

The latest product being released is 10W and can achieve 1,400 lumen in cool white and 1,250 lumen in warm white. Accordingly, it achieves the same level of luminance efficacy that DC LED module with 180lm/W LEDs would offer. This increased efficacy saves an additional 20% of power compared to the older versions. In addition, new arrangements of the LEDs on the board optimize the light pattern for specialized solutions such as flush-mount ceiling lights for living rooms, kitchens and porches.
